Buzz is that, instead of Wankhede, Sanjay Singh of NCB will now be the supervising officer of the 5 cases including the Aryan Khan case. Cases transferred as a vigilance probe is underway and due to certain allegations on Sameer.
According to an official tweet by ANI, Wankhede had also stated that he had filed a petition asking that either a central agency or the NCB’s Delhi unit should take over the probe into the Aryan Khan case and the Nawab Malik case. The tweet read, “I’ve not been removed from investigation. It was my writ petition in court that the matter be probed by a central agency. So Aryan case & Sameer Khan case are being probed by Delhi NCB’s SIT. It’s a coordination b/w NCB teams of Delhi & Mumbai:NCB Zonal Dir Sameer Wankhede to ANI”

The NCB has now issued an official statement which read, “A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officers from Operations Branch of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Headquarters has been constituted by the Director General, NCB to take over a total of 06 cases from NCB Mumbai Zonal Unit which have national and international ramifications, in order to conduct deeper investigation to find out forward and backward linkages”.
The statement also confirmed, “No officer or officers have been REMOVED from their present roles and they will continue to assist the Operations Branch investigation as required until any specific orders are issued to the contrary. It is reiterated that the NCB functions across India as a single integrated agency”
Sameer has reportedly been mired into controversies, after NCP leader and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik accused him of forging documents to get a government job, lying about his religion and arresting people in “bogus” drugs cases. However, Wankhede has denied all allegations. Reportedly, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to oversee the transferred cases. An offcial tweet from nawab also confirmed Sameer stepping down from the case. The tweet read, “Sameer Wankhede removed from 5 cases including the Aryan Khan case. There are 26 cases in all that need to be probed. This is just the beginning… a lot more has to be done to clean this system and we will do it”.
