2022 EMMYS PREDICTIONS:
OUTSTANDING VARIETY TALK SERIES
AWARDS PREDICTION COMMENTARY:
It finally came true. After eight years on the air, Seth Meyers’ late-night talk series nabbed its first nom for outstanding variety talk series. While some may feel the nom is the reward, he could be the one to finally unseat John Oliver after his winning run. Either way, the NBC frontman could be working towards a future winning moment.
John Oliver’s weekly series has won this category every year since 2016, and with five noms overall this year, and it’s in a position to do it once again. But how much can it win before it’s “too much?” Comparing his weekly show to everyone else who is delivering daily content, gives a significant advantage in the race.

Nabbing its fifth consecutive nomination in this category, Trevor Noah continues to highlight the bewildering topics of today, with a biting edge. Not sure it looks like the year it can finally unseat John Oliver or any of the other contenders.
Nominated each year since 2012, the ABC stapled late-night host still manages to have some of the best opening monologues on television. This category marks its sole nom so a win could be out of reach this time around.
Once a fixture at the Emmys with his previous talk show, Stephen Colbert has yet to win this category with his CBS late show. With five noms this year, and six consecutive mentions in this category, could he be the spoiler to John Oliver?
